Me... an athlete?

A couple years ago, I decided to take up running.  I joined a running group from a local Fleet Feet and ten weeks later I ran/walked my first 5K.  I continued with the next program and completed two more 5K's by September.  Running got me wondering what other athletic fitness goals I could set and achieve.  After my last 5K that year, I signed up for a sprint triathlon for the following summer.

My first triathlon I did just to complete!  When I crossed the finish line I burst into tears... what a rush it was to see what I was capable of when I set my mind to something.  I was hooked... this last year I did the triathlon again with the goal to shave a respectable 30 minutes off my previous race time.  I was successful and finished 34 minutes faster than my first.



Now, I am getting ready to embark on an even crazier journey as I train for a 70.3 distance triathlon in July of 2013.  This blog will be my collected thoughts as I train.  It is sure to be an incredible journey... thanks for joining me for the ride!
